Browser use
We've tried to make this page as easy to use for as many people as possible. The site is written using CSS style sheets which means that you override the way the page displays, using your own style sheets if you want.
Most modern browsers support style sheets, but if you're using an older browser, the information should still be displayed, however how the information is displayed may be more basic.
Text sizes
We've designed this site to use relative text sizes, which means that if you find it difficult to read some of the text because of its size, you can alter the overall text size - instructions on how to do this for the most common browsers are:
- In Internet explorer, use View -> Text Size
- In Firefox, use View -> Text Size or CTRL and the plus or minus keys
- In Opera, use View -> Text Size or the plus or minus keys
Most other browsers have facilities to change the text size - please check your documentation.
Access Keys
Most browsers allow you to use Access Keys, keyboard shortcuts to specific pages or parts of the page. Generally, on Windows they can be accessed by pressing ALT followed a single key on the keyboard, while on the Macintosh, they can be accessed by pressing CTRL followed by a key. If you're jumping to a specific page, you may need to the press the ENTER key.
We have used the access keys suggested by the UK government which are as follows:
- 1 - link to the home page
- 3 - link to the index (also known as sitemap)
- 5 - link to frequently asked questions
- 0 - link to our accessibility information (this page)
Accessibility Compliance
We aim to comply with the WAI accessibilty ratings on all of our pages - on most pages to we achieve an AA rating, but all of our pages meet at least the A rating.
